After a humiliating end to her engagement, investment banker Sidney Sinclair is done with commitment-phobic men. But when her sister winds up engaged after a whirlwind courtship, she’s thrown in to close contact with exactly the kind of sexy playboy she wants to avoid—the gorgeous best man. She’s stuck with him, for better or worse, until her sister walks down the aisle, but that doesn’t mean she has to give in to his smooth advances, no matter how tempting they are…

Special Agent Vaughn Roberts always gets his man on the job and his woman in bed. So Sidney’s refusal to fall for his charms only makes him more determined to win over the cool and confident redhead. Only what starts out as a battle of wills ends up as a serious play for her heart. Because the one woman who refuses to be caught may be the only one Vaughn can’t live without…

I needed a change of pace in my reading because the last few books I read were pretty angsty. When I was searching for possibilities in my challenge list, I knew I wanted to read something a little more fun and when I saw the cover of IT HAPPENED ONE WEDDING, I knew my search was over. I loved this book from cover to cover. Though it is book #5 in the FBI/Lawyer series, it can easily be read as a stand alone.
The story is a fun and breezy battle of the sexes between smart and successful Sydney, an investment banker, and gods gift to women aka FBI agent Vaughn. When he tries to pick her up in a coffee shop, she shoots him down leaving his ego a bit bruised. He's not used to women saying no. And Sydney is already gun-shy since suffering a recent broken engagement. Fate plays some wicked games sometimes and they meet again a half hour later when her younger sister and his younger brother tell them that they are getting married after knowing each other for just a couple of months. They both want Sydney and Vaughn to help out with their quick wedding plans. Yes, they are going to be seeing a lot of each other!
I loved the sparks and banter between Sydney and Vaughn. The more time they spend together, the more the reader knows they belong together, even if they won't admit it. It was fun watching them fall, especially Vaughn. Sydney was his match and I loved her strength and wit. To me, it was a feel good story that had me snorting and laughing throughout the book. Julie James hit the right notes with me and I can't wait to catch up more with of this series.

March 2nd: Remember When

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I pulled this out to read soon as Ms. James was one of my favorites authors many moons ago and shame on me for getting behind. LOL

  2. I'm so far behind on her. I haven't read anything but her in forever.
