HAPPY EVER AFTER IN CHRISTMAS
Christmas, Colorado #7
Debbie Mason
Releasing June 28th, 2016
Forever Romance
It's
beginning to look a lot like love . .
.
As her thirtieth birthday
approaches, Deputy Jill Flaherty decides it's time to live a little. When she
walks into Sawyer Anderson's bar in her sexiest dress, she's not thinking that
he's her brother's best friend or about the many women he dated during his
years as a pro hockey player. All she's thinking is that it's finally time to
confess to her longtime crush how she truly feels.
Sawyer is done being a player on and
off the ice. Yet no one in the small town of Christmas seems to believe he's
ready to settle down, not Jill, and certainly not Jack, who is determined to
keep Sawyer from breaking his little sister's heart. But as Sawyer and Jill's
relationship heats up, can he prove that he's her happy ever after?
I just love this series!
Debbie Mason writes breezy small-town romances that are full of fun, yet she has a mean streak. Her stories are filled with people who are human and multi-layered and she engages the readers by making them care so much for her fictional town and it's citizens. I know my blood pressure rose a time or two. She creates characters that you want to strangle in one book and then root for in the next. (That's right, Chloe! I still don't know how she saved your behind, but she did).
Jill has been crushing on her brother's best friend Sawyer since she was a kid. She isn't perfect and she made me growl a time or two before and in this book, she has me wishing for a protection spell to guard her vulnerable heart. Then there is Sawyer, the sexy bar owner and former hockey star. I've always enjoyed him before, but in HAPPY EVER AFTER IN CHRISTMAS, I wanted to smack him upside of the head and yell a little. He had me worried there for a while, thick-headed male. And clueless, too, especially when it came to his manager Brandi who wants a dad for her son even if she doesn't love him.
Sawyer, snap out of it!
Anyway, Jill and Sawyer really had their timing off on their road to the HEA. It was bumpy! It was so engaging as more layers to these friends to lovers unfolded and the tension was intense. Jill may be unsuccessful in the love department, but she is a great deputy who is good at her job and doesn't need someone to save her. Sawyer is a good guy who thinks it might be time to settle down. Unfortunately, he has a reputation as a player. He starts to see Jill in a different light after seeing her in a sexy red dress, but he doesn't want to lose his friendship with Jack either. They already had a falling out a few years back. Still, the heart wants what the heart wants, but the brain is giving Sawyer a lot of trouble.
It was also great to revisit with some previous characters. Love is in the air, babies are coming, and Cat and Grayson are getting married soon. In the town of Christmas, you find love, loyalty, family, friendship, as well as drama, misunderstandings, and emotional hurdles. People are growing and changing. Mix them all together and you have the perfect blend of a great heart-warming romance written by Debbie Mason.

See, I wasn't as mad at Sawyer as you. I knew he was so worried about losing his best friend that he mentally wouldn't let his feels out about Jill. And when he finally did...BFF walked out of his life. Okay, not forever but you get the picture. Ha!
