My Review:

I have never read a book by Sophie Barnes before, but I found myself charmed by her story-telling. Chloe is a recent widow who was betrayed by her cheating husband so she just wants to spend a relaxing time at Thorncliff. Here she keeps running into the mysterious and brooding James, a former spy. Both of the have a need to find a certain book hidden somewhere in the mansion. After bumping into each other in the most odd places, they join forces to find the book.

     Chloe is a smart and learned woman who never wants to marry again. James is a fish out of water now, and he doesn't quiet fit with the other aristocrats. He too, would rather be reading than doing other frivolous things with the gossipy ton. He is a somewhat lonely man who lost his parents at a young age.  Together, the two click and give each other the love they didn't think they were looking for.

     I like the suspense in the story and how they cope with betrayal that they have experienced as secrets are revealed. James was a good, quiet, and kind man, but with Chloe, he found a love he deserved and finds the other half of his soul.
