Book Club Thursday: Free Day!

Hi. Welcome back to this week's BCT! This week, my fellow bloggers and I have a Free Day where we each pick whatever we want to talk or review about. Come and join us. I can't wait to see what my friends are writing about.

My subject pick this week is:Let's Talk to the Animals!
Who doesn't love animals? I don't know what it's like not to have a pet around whether my many dogs, cats, birds, horses, guinea pigs, and even my Beta fish named Nathaniel. Pets are an important part of many peoples lives and lately a lot of the books I have selected feature animals. Right now I am reading NEED YOU FOR KEEPS by Marina Adair where the unselfish heroine Shay who fosters animals is arrested for helping save some kittens.
Animals are big scene stealers. Whether they are raiding a woman's undie drawer or knocking over the Thanksgiving dinner table, they provide us with some special moments as a plot device. They give us warmth, humor, and of course love. They also bring out the best in the humans that love them.
This week, I am going to share a few titles with you all. Some I have just read and others are part of the ever growing TBR pile. I hope you enjoy.

NEED YOU FOR KEEPS by Marina Adair

When it comes to caring for the furry residents of St. Helena, California, groomer and pet rescuer Shay Michaels can handle anything. Humans are another story, though especially Deputy Jonah Baudouin. He's the town's resident superhero: upright, uptight, and jaw-droppingly gorgeous, even when he's investigating complaints about Shay's beloved foster animals. And that spells danger for Shay, a free spirit who can't risk trusting the wrong person again.

Jonah and Shay have been circling each other ever since she came to town, and he's running out of reasons to "not" kiss her senseless. But this deputy is a straight shooter with his eye on the sheriff's badge. He can't afford to get involved with Shay, a chaos magnet with luscious curves who's liable to turn his career and his life upside down. He enforces laws. She breaks them repeatedly. Keeping her out of trouble is becoming a full-time job and it's one he hopes is never going to end.

Co-owner of the town's only kennel, Lilah Young has lived in Sunshine, Idaho, all her life. Pilot-for-hire Brady Miller is just passing through. But he soon has Lilah abandoning her instincts and giving in to a primal desire.

It's Brady's nature to resist being tied down, but there's something about Lilah and her menagerie that keeps him coming back for more.

UNLEASHED by Rachel Lacey

What happens when you find the right one at the wrong time?
Cara Medlen has a serious case of animal attraction. And it's not because of all the foster dogs she's rescued. She's got it bad for her incredibly sexy neighbor. Her one rule: Don't get attached. It's served her well with the dogs she's given to good homes and the children she's nannied. Yet the temptation of Matt's sexy smile might just convince her that some rules are made to be broken.

Matt Dumont doesn't need his skills as a private investigator to detect disaster on the horizon. Cara is everything he thought he'd never find-gorgeous, funny, and caring. But there's no way he can start a relationship just as he's about to move to another state. Talk about bad timing. As their attraction sizzles too hot to deny, they'll have to make a decision: forget the consequences and let loose, or forget each other and let go...

NO ONE LIKE YOU by Kate Angell

No One Expects a Curveball
For Rylan Cates, the gloriously sunny beachside town of Barefoot William may be home, but the pro baseball player needs to focus on spring training. Hiring a personal assistant to keep him and his four dogs organized for the next eight weeks is the first step--and Beth Avery is the perfect pinch hitter.

Beth is still looking for her place in the world, and a couple months caring for Rylan's two dachshunds, his golden retriever, and a Great Dane named Atlas should shore up her finances before she moves on. Except it's Atlas who won't budge, pushing her toward tanned, scruffy, sexy Rylan every chance he gets. One more strike and she's calling the dog out--unless she and Rylan admit that the attraction they're feeling is a game-winning grand slam. . .

When adrenaline runs high, so does the force of desire…
For Shay Appleton, it’s love at first sight when a gorgeous stray dog is brought into the animal shelter where she works. She just knows he’ll make a terrific watch dog—and with an abusive ex who won’t let go, she needs all the protection she can get. But Shay never suspected that her new pet is actually a trained police K-9 named Bogart—until Bogart’s even more gorgeous, human partner shows up on her doorstep.

Officer James Cannon is one tall, strong alpha male who’s convinced that Shay stole his dog. But once he gets closer to the suspect, he realizes that this stubborn, independent woman not only needs a guard dog, she needs James as well. It seems that someone from her past is stalking her, and threatening her life. When danger meets desire, will James risk his career and his best friend…to protect the woman who’s stolen his heart?

And Last but not least, a futuristic novel featuring--Dust Bunnies!

Silver Master by Jayne Castle

Cadence City matchmaker and para-resonator Celinda Ingram meets her match in security specialist Davis Oakes. On the hunt for the powerful relic that Celinda supposedly bought as a toy for her pet dust bunny, Davis must use all of his unique psychic abilities to try and wrest the ruby red object from the suspicious duo, keep his desire for Celinda in check-and keep them all safe from those who will do anything to possess the relic.

I hope you enjoyed some of my suggestions for books for the animal lovers out there. I know there are tons more out there. What are some of your favorite stories that featured animals? I love when you share, there is always room for recommendations. And don't forget to visit the blogs of the other members.
Please visit us again next week, April 30th, when we review: CURSED BY FIRE by Jacquelyn Frank.
