Book Club Thursday: Clearing Off The Shelves

Hi Readers! I am glad to stopped by to join us for this weeks Book Club Thursday. This week, we at BCT are Clearing Off The Shelves. We know that for us voracious readers, the TBR pile grows bigger each month, no matter how many books we read, the pile seems to stay the same because we buy more books than we can read. Not the worst problem in the world, (there is never too many books) but we do want to  make a dent on the shelves once in a while. So each month we are reading a book of each genre that has been sitting on the shelves for over six months.

For me, this month I am picking a Romantic Suspense story by a wonderful writer, Lena Diaz. The story is MISSING IN THE GLADES and is one of her smaller length, but just as good, suspense novels.

He was looking for a missing person. What he found was a beautiful stranger.

Looking for a fresh start, detective Jake Young headed south on a case that could help launch his PI business. He knew no amount of work would make him forget his tortured past, but maybe Faye Star could help. Caught up in Jake's missing persons case, the distracting Faye was hiding a secret he was begging to find out.

Expertly guiding him through the swamps, Jake's job grew more complicated when someone started taking shots at the free-spirited beauty. As much as she protested she could take care of herself, Jake stepped in, refusing to admit how desperately he needed someone to save. Especially since he'd never be able to save himself…

I love Lena Diaz and she doesn't disappoint here with the first of her Marshland Justice series. Jake is an ex-cop who is starting a private investigation company with some friends. Little did he know that his first case would bring him a chance to meet the woman who would become the love of his life. Things don't start well, because she is one of the two people he is investigating.
He finds himself in Mystic Glades, population 13, a blip on the map in the Florida everglades. Here he finds Faye, a gypsy like woman who knows the dangerous glades like the back of her hand, and here the sparks begin. Jake is a pole in the butt by the book kind of guy and Faye is a loyal woman who loves wildlife and her new little town. Of course she has secrets and is forced by Jake to help her find her foster brother. There is lots of twists and turns and danger, but the heroine Faye brings laughs with her view on life. And who else runs through the swamps wearing skirts? Jake was very uptight at first, but Faye brings out the good in him with her loving and forgiving heart. There are also some fun secondary characters that keep an eye on her as well including a toothless panther. Missing In The Glades is a good read when you have an afternoon to yourself. I loved it!

  1. I've never read any of her categories. I do love her books though. I might have to try them.
