CUFF ME By Lauren Layne! Stop By For A Review & Giveaway

New York's Finest #3
Lauren Layne
Releasing on March 29th, 2016
Forever: Grand Central

Vincent knows he's not the most charming of the Moretti brothers. He prefers brooding to flirting, reading to talking, and he sure as hell isn't about to give into his mother's insistence that he 'settle down with a nice girl.' Luckily, Vincent's gig as one of the NYPD's top homicide detectives keeps him busy. As does his long-time partner, Jill Henley–a tough-as-nails cop with the face of an angel and smart mouth that makes Vincent crazy in all the worst ways.

After six years of working the homicide beat with the tight-lipped Vincent Moretti, Jill figure she knows him better than anyone. Which is not at all. But when their most recent case points to a potential serial-killer situation, the higher-ups send them on a rare undercover mission to a place no NYPD officer dares go: the Upper Eastside.

Now the bureau's most antagonistic set of partners is posing as Mr. and Mrs. Brooks of Park Avenue. Spending 24/7 in the suspect's territory brings them closer and closer to their killer . . . and closer to each other. Soon Vincent and Jill are playing good cop/bad cop in and out of bed, and Jill's falling hard. But can she convince Vincent to give her a shot as partner in life, as well as at the bureau?

OMG! I loved this book. Vincent Moretti "cuffed" my heart. And so did his wonderfully alive family.
This is one of those stories where two people so obviously right for each other are totally clueless and nearly miss what is right there before their eyes. Especially, the sexy and grumpy teddy bear who is Vincent. He's been partners with his sister's best friend Jill for six years. She took 3 months leave to help her ailing mother, and he finally realizes that he misses her-as more than just the good cop to his bad.
Jill has given up on her partner noticing her as a woman. She wants love and romance and "the one". Poor Vincent is floored when she returns...with an engagement ring on her finger. This leaves a strain on their relationship. Time has not been a friend. He finally was going to ask her out. Jill is engaged to a man who wants her to move to Chicago, but she can't stop thinking about Vincent.
This story is emotional and complex. Ms Layne slowly peels back layers and shows you why Vincent is the way he is. Family can be a wonderful thing, but a person can still feel lonely even when surrounded by those people who love him. Emotions are hard for him to express because he's not an extrovert like one brother, or at ease and charming like his little brother.
The story also deals with friendship, Jill is close with Elena and is like another sister in the Moretti family. Elena opens Jill's eyes with some truths that she needs to face before her life changes forever.
This story grabbed me and didn't let go. The pace was just right and the story flowed. It made me laugh and sometimes I held my breathe while waiting for these two to open their eyes. I fell in love with the whole Moretti family. Especially Vincent. There was just something special about this closed up man that made me feel for him. I liked Jill, too. She's a nice and sassy woman who is good at her job, but there were a few times I wanted to shake her. Yes, I wanted to protect my Vincent.
I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite books this year. This series has been on my radar for a while which means I get to read some more of Lauren Layne's wonderful Moretti clan.
