BLURB:

McKenna Mason, a New York City attorney with a love of all things Prada, is on the run from a group of powerful, dangerous men. McKenna turns to a teenage crush, Will Ashton, for help in starting a new life in beautiful horse country. She finds that Will is now a handsome, successful race horse farm owner. As the old flame is ignited, complications are aplenty in the form of a nasty ex-wife, an ex-boyfriend intent on killing her, and a feisty race horse who refuses to race without a kiss. Can Will and McKenna cross the finish line together, and more importantly, alive?

This is the first book in the Bluegrass Series, available now, in print and as a free novella on Amazon.

My Review:

This story is a light romantic suspense tale. Kenna is on the run from powerful men after witnessing something horrible in the law offices she worked for as well as her assistant Danielle and they decide to separate and keep tabs by email. And after running to a few other states, she decides to go to a place she visited as a young teen visiting her grandmother in Kentucky. This is where she first met Will Ashton, the first boy to give her a kiss.
This story has some likeable characters, some amusing court docket cases, and a reunion between the teen crushes seventeen years later.
It also asks you to suspend belief if you are going to enjoy it totally. Kenna had to leave in a hurry, leaving her New York condo behind and she was able to get enough cash to last for her being on the run and able to pack her Louis Vuitton trunk. She spent a month in Hershey, PA eating chocolate, went to a few other places before deciding to apply for a DA job in Kentucky where will lives. It just didn't seem logical that she never had to change her name, or social security number, but then she had to blackmail her ex-boss a bit too.
For somebody in hiding, she had a lot of designer clothes, and she made a lot of friends, plus reunited with Will and they had a good attraction. There were lots of crazy characters, petty crimes, accidents and sabotage at Will's horse farm, a spoiled ex-wife who just happened to be the daughter of a powerful politician.
So did I hate the story? No, I didn't. It was light reading and I did like elements of it. I wouldn't mind  reading about the assistant Danielle sometime in the future. Am I in a hurry to read it? Um, no.

I wonder what my friends thought of this weeks pick. And please feel free to let us know what you thought in the comment box. Don't forget to visit my fellow club members and their blogs. And don't forget to visit us next week!

  1. Sadly I wasn't a huge fan. I thought there was way too much repetition.

  2. It was kinda shocking how everyone took her in the second she hit town. A little too unbelievable.
